Close Encounter With a Great White Shark

A great white shark sighting off the coast of Mexico has gone viral. A man who manages a YouTube channel called “Gabe and Garrett” posted this video on Thursday. It shows a shark breaching an underwater diving cage near Guadalupe Island. It’s a volcanic island located about 150 miles off the west coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula in the Pacific Ocean. The shark is seen leaping out of the water to eat a large chunk of tuna bait tied to a rope, then breaching the side of cage. A diver who was inside managed to escape through the bottom of the cage. He is later seen emerging through the top of the cage, after the shark freed itself. the man who posted the video wrote that “this shark lunged at the bait, accidentally hit the side of the cage, was most likely confused and not able to swim backwards, it thrust forward and broke the metal rail of the cage.” the diver who was described as a “very experienced dive instructor” remained calm throughout the ordeal. He was reportedly not injured during the accident.
