Convention Marks 40th Anniversary of ‘Star Wars'

A celebration of galactic proportions has Orlando at the center of the universe. Star Wars celebration kicked off on Thursday at the Orange County convention center. Hundreds of people from around the world displayed costumes to mark the 40th anniversary of the first “Star Wars” film. Events included droid races, light saber battles, and expensive artwork. Some people wore homemade costumes and immersed themselves in the roles of the characters that have drawn generations of Star Wars fans together. The convention runs through Sunday. “The Last Jedi” is set to be released Dec. 15 and Disney World is building a new Star Wars Land in Hollywood Studios that’s set to open in 2019.
