Critical Mental Health Issues Plaguing Student Athletes

For college athletes, mental health challenges can have lifelong consequences. A recent survey of 21,000 NCAA athletes found an increase in students reporting mental health problems. But the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit found that unlike other sports related injuries, mental health illnesses like eating disorders are often untreated and undetected. Now the NCAA is working to establish a set of best practices for universities to better identify athletes battling mental health issues.
