Woman Dead After Being Thrown From Golf Cart

A South Bay family is grieving Tuesday after a freak accident involving a golf cart. Debra Bedard of San Jose died Friday in the small town of Wallace, which sits southeast of Sacramento. The California Highway Patrol said Bedard was riding in a golf cart when the driver turned sharply, throwing her from the cart and onto the wine glass she had been holding. She suffered cuts that proved to be fatal. CHP says the driver of the golf cart was Bedard’s partner of 17 years, and he was drunk at the time. He was arrested, but he has been released.
