An owl watched worldwide on webcams was shot and killed last week. Mrs. Tiger, also known as “Mrs T.” Six years ago an Oklahoma City couple installed webcams when two horned owls made their nest in the window of their home. Seven million viewers logged on to watch the live camera feed of a family of owls. Over the years, the public watched as “Mrs. T” laid eggs, giving birth to ten owlets. Sadly last week, she was hit by a pellet gun and fell to her death. A necropsy at Oklahoma State University confirmed the cause of death. It is a misdemeanor to kill a horned owl because they are a federally protected species. State game wardens are investigating the death in the meantime, the male owl continues to hoot for his missing mate. Researchers say there is a chance he will choose another mate, now that Mrs. Tiger is gone.
