Former Hunters Point Worker Claims He Found High Radiation Level on Land Near New Construction

More questions are looming about the cleanup of the Hunters Point Shipyard. A whistleblower is telling the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit that he detected radiological contamination on a part of the shipyard where he didn’t expect to find any. The former worker has questioned the shipyard cleanup before, but this time he’s speaking out about radiation he says he found on an area of the shipyard that now belongs to the City of San Francisco, near land that’s already being developed. He’s speaking exclusively to Investigative Reporter Liz Wagner, hoping what he has to say will prompt the government to take swift action. This story aired on April 30, 2017.
