Frequent SFO Go-Arounds Point to Safety Concerns

NBC Bay Area analyzed nearly five years of FAA aviation data for airplanes landing at San Francisco International Airport and found an increase in the number and rate of “go-arounds” year after year. Foreign pilots executed “go-arounds” at nearly five times the rate as domestic pilots. And a third of all “go-arounds” at SFO involved other traffic on the runways including frequent conflicts with airplanes on crossing runways. Stephen Stock reports.
