Investigation: 11,000 California Schools Have Not Had Water Tested for High Levels of Lead

Water at more than 11,000 California schools has not been tested for lead, according to state data analyzed by an NBC affiliate in Sacramento. The numbers show that nearly 130 schools in Santa Clara County have requested that drinking water be tested, but it hasn’t happened yet. More than 200 Alameda County schools have requested tests that have not yet happened. The investigation found that only 13 percent of schools statewide have even requested testing.
