Japanese Flag Donated to National Park Service at Pearl Harbor

A hand-sewn Japanese flag from World War II was donated to the National Park Service at Pearl Harbor on Thursday. The flag flew over the Japanese battleship Nagato. Admiral Iso Roku Yamamoto gave the order to attack Pearl Harbor. That ship was surrendered in Tokyo Bay in 1945, allowing American sailors to take pieces of memorabilia. Navy seaman Robert Hartman found the flag and used it as a blanket before passing it on to his daughter, Diane Hall, in 1999. She gave it to the park service to be preserved.
