Man Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Persian Rugs Worth $230,000 From Burlingame Gallery

Burlingame police have arrested an Oakland man accused of stealing $230,000 worth of Persian rugs from a gallery on Monday. Officers got a tip about a possible suspect, later identified as 55-year-old John Reed. The man was spotted driving a car later in the day and pulled over. Police found the stolen rugs in Reed’s car and said that he had been stealing Persian rugs from stores around the Bay Area.
