Pandas Journey to the Netherlands

A pair of giant pandas are on their way to the Netherlands. Xing Ya and Wu Wen were put in their crates from holding cells at the Wolong National Nature Reserve in Southwest China. Chinese state media said the animals are healthy and will enjoy snacking on bamboo during their trip. The male, Xing Ya, was caught on camera giving one of his keepers a high five after walking into his travel crate. Both animals will be moved to larger crates for their flight to Utrecht. A number of keepers and veterinarians will accompany the pair to the Netherlands. The zoo in Utrecht has spared no expense preparing for the giant pandas. They’ll live in a special enclosure at the zoo that covers almost 10,000 square feet. Five Dutch zookeepers were trained at a panda research center to better care for the animals during their stay at the Netherlands zoo.
