Popular East Bay Teacher Dies Unexpectedly

A popular Pleasanton teacher died one day after his retirement, according to the East Bay Times. Eric Thiel, 65, was a biology teacher at Amador Valley High School. Friends said he retired Friday, which was the last day of classes before summer break. He died the following day. The cause of death is not yet known. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Thiel family, and it’s already exceeded its goal.
