San Jose Debuts New Weapon in Fight for Pedestrian Safety

San Jose leaders have installed the city’s first High-intensity Activated crosswalk – or HAWK – near Martial Cottle Park. They hope the traffic control device, used to stop cars and allow people to cross streets safely, will help to reduce the number of pedestrian fatalities – 21 of which occurred in 2014.
