Mountain View Theater Group Takes Special Steps to Accommodate Children with Autism

A Bay Area theatre group will be accommodating children with autism, who may be sensitive to loud sounds and bright lights. The Peninsula Youth Theatre group, which is rehearsing for this weekend’s performance of “The Ugly Duckling” at the Mountain View Performing Arts Center.  A performance at 5 p.m. Saturday will be “sensory friendly,” which means the company will tone down the sound effects and keep the lights on through the performance. They’ll also set aside a quiet area outside in case the kids would rather watch on a TV screen.
