Stanford Professors Sue Volkswagen, Allege “Defeat Device” May Have Come From Silicon Valley

Stanford professors filed a class action lawsuit in federal court Friday, alleging that the automaker intentionally manipulated its vehicles’ emissions systems by installing so-called “defeat devices” designed to evade mandatory emissions testing. The suit also raises suspicion about a Volkswagen facility in Bay Area and its possible involvement in the case. Robert Handa reports.
