White Lion Quintuplets Born in Europe

For the critically endangered white lion, quintuplets born at a Czech zoo are vital to the survival of their species. Quintuplets are an extreme rarity for white lions, but five were recently born on May 4, putting the staff at a zoo in Dvorec into overdrive to care for them. Their constant care paid off as all five are thriving. Among the litter is a male named Mesfin, which means king, and four females named Asmara, meaning justice, Dabe, meaning health, Dunia, meaning life and Congit, meaning beauty. White lions are a genetic rarity that come from South Africa’s Timbavati preserve in the Kruger region. Less than 13 are estimated to live in the wild, while 300 are in captivity
