Wine Lovers Celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day

Wine lovers in Japan on Thursday celebrated the release of this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau by bathing themselves in the French wine. This resort hotel in Hakone, a hot spring resort town Southwest of Tokyo, has been marking “Beaujolais Nouveau Day” for the past eleven years with a wine bath of the latest Beaujolais nouveau mixed into their traditional communal baths. This year, dozens of people flocked to the annual event where they were served all-you-can-drink wine in the bath for about $27. Children and the underaged were allowed to participate with grape juice or any other non-alcoholic drink. Beaujolais nouveau traditionally hits the shelves at midnight ahead of the third Thursday in November.
