From Valley Heat to Cooling Changes Ahead

Temps turned toasty as expected on Saturday with most inland locations in the mid 90s to near 100 degree temperatures with areas inland in the East Bay/Tri-Valley locations soaring into the 100-107 degree range! Thankfully, some cooling is expected to finish the weekend, however its likely that we’ll still see one more fairly hot day inland before the ocean air conditioning really kicks in for Monday. Sunday should start of with areas of low clouds returning to the coast with a gradually strengthening sea breeze by mid-afternoon. This should help drop coastal/bay temperatures by about 10-15 degrees on Sunday, however the shallow depth of the marine layer will still allow inland locations, especially near Pleasanton and Livermore to climb quickly into the 90s around midday before leveling off by mid afternoon as westerly, cooling winds take hold by Sunday evening. Low clouds should surge inland for Monday morning as temps finally drop dramatically inland on Monday, back into the 70s and low 80s for our inland valleys to start the work week. In the meantime, Happy Father’s Day to all dads out there and hope you have a wonderful finish to the weekend! – Rob Mayeda
