Heat Lingers, Cooling Tuesday

Record highs set in Richmond (96), Gilroy (104) and tied at SFO (93) on Sunday and its still looking like we’ll see one more hot day inland with some mid-afternoon relief coming to the coast and inner bay as a developing sea breeze begins to strengthen. There is another Spare the Air day with highest ground level ozone levels in the East Bay valleys, though air quality should improve by Tuesday as WNW winds increase and help mix out some of the smoke and ozone pollution. Temps should drop by 15-20 degrees from Monday’s highs on Tuesday as a trough sets up across the Pacific Northwest. Locally gusty winds are possible near the coast and hills at times as this wind shift takes place. Temps should stay at or slightly below average as we pass midweek then trend a little warmer again approaching next weekend.
