We’ve seen some thunderstorms and hail around the Bay Area recently. In this week’s edition of our online weather classroom, NBC Bay Area meteorologist Rob Mayeda takes a closer look at how lightning and hail are formed, including a photo of the largest hailstone ever recorded in California. You may be surprised when you see it.

Many schools focus on weather content or climate change for course content this time of year, which is usually why requests come in frequently for the NBC Bay Area Microclimate Weather team to give a talk on weather topics.
