Strong Wind, Heavy Rain Overnight

A powerful Spring storm system will bring periods of heavy rain (2″-3″ likely in the mountains) into early Friday morning with wind speeds in the 20-40 mph range across the Bay Area. Gusts may exceed 45-60 mph in the hills before deceasing later Friday morning. Rain will change to showers before another, somewhat weaker storm arrives Friday evening bringing renewed rain and breezy conditions into early Saturday. The weekend will begin with showers but should be drier and chilly heading into Sunday morning. For those travelling to the Sierra keep in mind heavy snow and gusty winds will keep a Winter Storm Warning up into early Saturday evening with amazing snow totals in the 2-4 foot range above 6,000 ft. We could see some lows in the 30s for some wind-sheltered valleys on Sunday morning. Temps should stay somewhat cool early next week with long range forecasts hinting at more active weather again by next Wednesday. The rainy season just doesn’t seem like it wants to wind down just yet.
