Wintry Weekend Weather

A trio of weather systems will move through Northern California between early Saturday into Monday, bring some rain, gusty wind at times, a chance for thunder and some of the lowest snow levels we’ve seen so far this Fall. We’re expecting widespread rain and breezy conditions to start Saturday, changing to decreasing showers into the afternoon. As cooler air aloft moves into the area, we may see a few stronger showers drop some hail at times, brief thunder will also be possible. Our second weather system should arrive later Saturday evening with air cool enough to support snow to near 3,500-4,000 feet. Will be interesting to see if we see any briefly sticking to the higher mountain tops around the Bay Area, especially Mt. Hamilton by Sunday morning. Things should trend chilly and breezy but mostly dry by Sunday afternoon before another weather system brings mainly light rain into our skies again on Monday. These systems are cold in nature and fairly quick moving so rain totals are lower than we’ve seen compared to those October storms. However, thunder chances will be higher thanks to the cooler air aloft.
