Fillmore Street stretches from Marina Blvd. at the north point to Duboce at the south and when reference includes "shop Upper Fillmore," it relates to the corridor between Sutter and Jackson streets.

Upper Fillmore draws shoppers who appreciate a smattering of corporate retailers mixed in with the talents of local entrepreneurs and small business owners.

This melting pot of enterprise spans the scope from thrift shop to high profile designer with charming cafes and lively coffee stops tossed into the meld.

There’s always a surprise on Fillmore, a business exchange, so to speak. One pulling up camp and another emerging on the shoporama scene. A perfect example is Citizen Cake who just moved into the neighborhood, replacing Vivande’s.

One well-known, steadfast destination spot on Upper Fillmore is the lifestyle boutique named Nest.

Nest is a gem of a store with its welcome door positioned on the diagonal at the corner of Fillmore and Clay streets. Yes, truly a local jewel,   stocked with something for almost everyone, that is, if "sophisticated free spirit" describes you.

Vintage glass front cases display a selection of unusual, beautiful jewelry, some featuring semi-precious stones such as agate and quartz.
Lovely etched aperitif glasses line up next to plump quilted print pillows and graceful glazed vases. Flip through photos in an assortment of coffee table books including nostalgic images of  romantic strolls around Montmartre.

And, if you sway to the beat of glamour and mystic, all the while listening to Paris lounge tunes, you’ll wander around, discovering something new on each table and cabinet.

Just don’t miss the adorable pewter bubble blowers or the new arrival, Mr. Charismatic, a life-size stuffed orangutan you might not be able to resist.
