From the husband and wife team that brought the world Cafe Gratitude comes an organic Mexican spot inspired by the owners' delicious trips to their employees' mamas' houses south of the border.
Gracias Madre features a flavor-packed menu that ranges from fresh tamales stuffed with seasonal veggies (served with pumpkin seed salsa and black beans), to marjoram/chile/cashew ricotta empanadas, to tomato-habanero salsa-covered chiles rellenos crammed with squash.
The menu is of course seasonal, 100 percent organic and vegan. The restaurant opened in San Francisco's Mission district this past weekend.
