Jeff Mills Debuts Live “Cine-Mix” in San Francisco

International DJ to appear at Jewish Community Center

Jeff Mills, the Detroit-born techno DJ and producer currently living in Paris and working as a sonic artist in residence for the Louvre, has chosen San Francisco as the place to premiere his latest work in America.

Mills will use four turntables to create a live "cine-mix" soundtrack to Fritz Lang's 1929 silent film Woman in the Moon, screening on January 23 at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. Lang has previously been a muse for Mills, who infuses much of his work with the spirit of his love for science fiction; Mills previously composed, performed and released a soundtrack to accompany the Lang silent film classic Metropolis.

Early performances of the work have sold out in Paris, Amsterdam and Glasgow. Tickets for the San Francisco show, which will be followed by a discussion from the artist, are $25 and aren't expected to last long.
