Living in San Francisco Comes With Some Perks

It pays to live in the City, sometimes.

Mayor Gavin Newsom is pushing a plan to increase the entry fees for both Coit Tower and the Botanical Gardens but not if you are a resident.

As part of the mayor's plan to balance the City's lopsided budget, non-residents visiting the iconic tower will have to pay $2 more than residents to stare longingly at the same Bay and everything beyond that San Franciscans pay only $5.

But perhaps the bigger shocker is the plan to charge non-locals up to $7 to enter the Botanical Gardens. Currently there is no charge for anyone to enter but that would change if the Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee approves the Newsom backed bill Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

If passed, residents would continue to enjoy all the zen the gardens have to offer for free.
