Filling out applications even on-line is often tedious, a pain, but in this case it is costing military troops cash. Tens of thousands of troops are due money and they either don't know it or are skeptical or maybe they've just put off filing for it. But the deadline of October 21, 2010 is coming up soon to claim retroactive bonus pay under the "Stop Loss" program.
Military members from the Army, Navy, U.S.Marine Corps and Air Force are eligible if their service was involuntarily extended or their retirement was suspended between Sept. 11, 2001 and Sept. 30, 2009.
Survivors of military members too should find out if they're eligible too. There are exceptions, and you can read about it and get the simple application on the Defense Department's website.
