A middle school marching band from Saratoga has been invited to join the parade down Pennsylvania Avenue after President-elect Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol.
The Redwood Middle School Marching Band and Auxiliary Units learned of the honor on Monday. They were among the 1,382 organizations that applied to participate -- a record number. The Armed Forces Inaugural Committee helped choose those who would march in 56th Inaugural Parade in January.
The students will have to pay their way to Washington, and will now start raising the money they'll need.
