Fire Season Exhausted

2008 Fire Season comes to and end after starting early and going strong.

Cal Fire announced this 2008 fire season ended this morning. That means seasonal firefighters will be released and Cal Fire air resources will be demobilized.

The end of fire season in Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Cruz and  the west sides of San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties will also coincide with Cal Fire's end of the 2008 fire season in its Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit, which  includes Sonoma, Lake, Napa, Yolo, Solano and Colusa counties.

This years fire season started early with a series of lightning sparked fires burning nearly 1. 2 million acres across the state.

Santa Cruz county was also hit hard this season with three major blazes, Summit, Martin and Trabing fires.

Cal Fire suggests the end of fire season is a good time for people to check home heating systems, clean chimneys and check smoke  detectors.
