Don't Like BART's New Cars? Blame Yourself

BART's new Fleet of the Future was designed in part by you

You ride BART.

And you designed BART.

The Bay Area's most-vital public transportation network asked the public to help design its fleet of new trains, and 17,000 people provided input on the Fleet of the Future, the agency announced Thursday.

Some features, such as digital screens and "more handholds to grab onto, were given thumbs up by the public," BART officials said.

But you still have a chance to say more: BART's final car model is coming to the Bay Area in 2014.

BART plans to add hundreds of new cars to its fleet, to bring the total number of cars to 1,000.
