An afternoon fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home Tuesday in the unincorporated community of Knightsen, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District said.
The fire was reported at 5:30 p.m. on Knightsen Avenue at Willow Oak Place, where personnel found a semi trailer, an out building, a detached garage and shrubbery burning, along with a grass field across the street and threatening other structures.
Response was initially limited due to downed power lines that were finally shut off.
There were no injuries reported, but structure damage is estimated at $300,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
