A 911 caller told police a man had just shot his girlfriend inside a San Francisco residence linked to a top Instagram executive. The “swatting” call comes the same month as another prank call on a Facebook executive.
The San Francisco Police Department is investigating what seemed to be a "swatting" incident at the home of an Instagram executive early Saturday morning.
Police responded to a report about a shooting at a residence on Fair Oaks Street at around 12:45 a.m. and upon arrival the home owner said there was nothing going on.
Police searched the residence and everything was fine, said Adam Lobsinger from the SFPD.
They did not release the names of the people inside the home but the address is linked to an Instagram executive.
Earlier this month, a suspect impersonated a Facebook employee and called police to his Palo Alto home, saying he had shot his wife, tied up his children and assembled multiple pipe bombs.
