Off-Duty Officer's Gun Fires at Halloween Party

SF police contucting Internal investigation

San Francisco police are conducting an internal investigation of one of their officers after his gun fired during a Halloween party over the weekend.

Santa Clara County authorities say deputies responding to a call from a home in Los Altos Friday released the off-duty officer after taking statements from witnesses after the incident Friday night.

A spokesman for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department says the officer was not arrested because the incident was not considered a criminal act.

San Francisco police Lt. Neville Gittens says an administrative investigation is being conducted into the incident.
