Petaluma Bank Robber Caught on Camera

Police are trying to track down a man who robbed a Bank of the West branch in Petaluma Tuesday morning.

A man entered the branch, at 311 N. McDowell Blvd., around 11:30 a.m. and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, Petaluma police Sgt. Ken Savano said.

The suspect did not show a weapon, Savano said.

He was described as an unshaven Hispanic man in his 20s, who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with brown hair. He was wearing a black-and-gray beanie, black-framed glasses, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark shoes, Savano said.

He drove off in a black 1980s vehicle -- possibly a 1987-89 Chevrolet Fleetside pickup with an open bed and either primer or a paint job that was in very poor condition, Savano said.

Police released a surveillance image of the suspect and are asking for the public's help identifying him.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call detective Tamara Shoemaker at (707) 778-4444.
