Thousands of Dogs Compete in Golden Gate Kennel Club Dog Show

Thousands of dogs, from Dalmatians to dachshunds, are expected to strut their stuff this weekend at the 2019 Golden Gate Kennel Club Dog Show.

The event, happening Saturday and Sunday at the Cow Palace, showcases more than 175 breeds, with 1,500 entries per day, organizers said.

Show dog trials will be held in the main arena each day, and a benched show will provide opportunities to meet the dogs and learn about breeds.

In addition, dogs will be styled and walk the runway in an all-breed fashion show with judging based on originality, high style, humorous and breed heritage.

Other events include a best puppy-in-show contest and fly-ball demonstrations.

The Golden Gate Kennel Club Show ranks as one of the most prestigious in the nation. With a history dating back over 100 years, the event is one of the few remaining benched dog events in the country.
