Why Fracking is Controversial in California

Using water to get oil and natural gas: it’s a process known as hydraulic fracturing or fracking. Big drills go down into the earth, then a mix of water and rocks releases the fuel. The question is, how costly is this process – financialy, environmentally and who’s paying for it. NBC Bay Area political analyst Larry Gerston explains.
