With the non-tender deadline rapidly approaching, the A's non-tendered 2018 All-Star reliever Blake Treinen, the team announced.

Treinen posted a career-worst 4.91 ERA and 1.619 WHIP this past season losing the closer role to Liam Hendriks. This was coming off a sensational All-Star selection in 2018 with a 0.78 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 80.1 seasons.

MLB Trade Rumors projected Treinen would be awarded $7.8 million in arbitration -- it appears that's not what the A's want to pay for.

In additional moves ...

The A's announced they have non-tendered the contract to left-handed pitcher Ryan Buchter and catcher Josh Phegley. Oakland also agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland on a one-year contract for the 2020 season, avoiding him of arbitration.

Treinen, in addition to Buchter and Phegley will now be free agents.
