Back in early October, Kyrie Irving made the people in Boston very happy.
During an event for season-ticket holders at TD Garden, the six-time All-Star made it sound like he was committing to the Celtics long-term.
"I plan on re-signing here next year," Kyrie announced.
Fast forward four months later, and is that still the plan?
"Ask me July 1," Kyrie told reporters Friday morning in New York. "At the end of the day, I'm going to do what's best for my career. I spent the last eight years trying to do what everyone else wanted me to do -- managers, other personnel -- and I don't owe anybody sh*t.
"I still have confidence in Boston and what they can promise for the future and what we have in terms of pieces. That's what excited me at the beginning of the season."

This is not exactly a ringing endorsement and should make the Celtics and their fans quite skeptical and concerned. Kyrie referring to Boston as "they" and not "we" doesn't help matters.

The fact that he made these comments following shootaround at Madison Square Garden makes this even more entertaining. The Knicks have the cap space to add two max-level free agents in July, and the grand plan is to sign Kyrie and Kevin Durant.
You better believe that Kyrie -- who missed Boston's last two games because of a hip strain -- is going to want to put on a show tonight at MSG.
It might just be his, and Kevin Durant's, future home.
