Raiders Could Benefit from Titan Fight Fiasco

Vince Young's arrest this weekend for a late-night strip club melee has left the Tennessee Titans quarterback genuinely concerned over a possible NFL suspension for his drunken punching antics. "I pray to God that (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell doesn't come down hard on me," Young pleaded to ESPN.

Now, Oakland Raiders fans have an interest in the matter. If Roger Goodell does come down hard on Young, the Raiders' opening weekend opponent will have just lost their starting quarterback.

The Raiders and Titans open the regular season in Nashville on Sept. 12.

To be clear, Raiders fans, Young's assault was committed against a male employee at a strip club. He did not attack a female exotic dancer, an ex-wife, or anybody's mom. There would no ethical issues with your amusement at this incident and its ramifications.

And any time celebrity strip club fights can be viewed over the Internet, that's something that ought to be noted.

Want to know another fun fact about NFL quarterbacks who commit aggravated assault? If Vince Young is suspended for two games, then both quarterbacks in the Titans-Steelers Week 2 matchup will be sidelined for personal conduct violations. Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has already been issued a six-game suspension for his own off-season unpleasantness.

People, it is less than seven weeks until training camp and fewer than 13 weeks until the opening game. It is not too early to be thinking about this.
