Apple Working on Larger iPhone, Smaller iPad: Report

Apple's long history of keeping its secrets locked behind the walls of 1 Infinite Loop has changed over recent years.

Gone is Apple's ability to surprise everyone with "one more thing. "

With all the blogs paying attention to every potential new feature on the next iPhone or the latest iPad, it is getting harder for Tim Cook and company to keep Cupertino from chirping.

It also doesn't help when Apple employees lose prototype phones in bars.

One particular publication that has a strong track record of being able to predict what Jony Ive is building in Apple's design studio is The Wall Street Journal.

And Wednesday the business paper reported that the newest iPhone will have a larger screen than previous years and that Apple is also testing out different sizes for its iPad tablet.

The paper reports that Apple will release the newest iPhone -- expected sometime this fall -- with a screen at least 4-inches wide diagonally.

The current iPhone has a 3.5-inch screen.

Apple is reportedly working with several screen makers on the latest iPhone.

Reports of Apple working on a 4-inch screen for its iPhone and a smaller 7-inch iPad have been circling for months.
