Google Takes Visitors to Historic Sites

Don't have time to leave your couch and travel the world? Now you don't have to.

Google unveiled a new feature Thursday that will enable its users to virtually travel to 132 historic sites across 18 countries.

The World Wonders project uses the same technology that powers Google's controversial Street View service.

The Mountain View-based search company used "camera-carrying trikes" to photograph many of the sites featured in the project.

Virtual travelers can now Yosemite National Park, Australia’s Shark Bay, Pompeii or the Kyoto temples.
