Advice From Crawford's Idol: 'Solidify This Infield'

    When he was 8 years old, back when his baseball games ended with a snack bar ticket at the Little League field, Brandon Crawford made a daring goal for himself.

    He’d watch Giants games on TV. He’d go to Candlestick Park with his family. He’d spend most of his time watching shortstop Royce Clayton.And he made up his mind.

    “That’s exactly what I wanted to be – the opening day shortstop for the Giants,” Crawford said. “Just like him.”

    The narrowest of goals.
