The 49ers met Thursday with former Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly about the team’s head-coaching job, a source told CSNBayArea.com.

The 49ers also met Thursday with Buffalo Bills assistant head coach/running backs coach Anthony Lynn, another source confirmed.

The 49ers are searching for a head coach for the second-consecutive year after firing Jim Tomsula on Sunday night after a 5-11 season.

Kelly, 52, was fired Dec. 30 after the Eagles fell out of playoff contention in the NFC East with a 6-9 record. In Kelly’s first two seasons, Philadelphia finished with 10-6 records. The Eagles ranked in the top-five in total offense in his first two seasons.

The Eagles made the playoffs in Kelly’s first season after he left Oregon in 2013 to take over for Andy Reid, but lost their home wild-card playoff game to the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles lost three of their final four games in 2014 to miss the playoffs.

Kelly took over full control of the team’s personnel decisions and engineered trades of running back LeSean McCoy to Buffalo and a Nick Foles-for-Sam Bradford deal with the St. Louis Rams.

In a letter to fans, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie wrote, “I spent the last three seasons evaluating the many factors involved in our performance as a team. As I watched this season unfold, I determined that it was time to make a change."
