Today is National HIV Testing Day and Santa Clara County is trying to help people get tested.

It is offering free HIV screenings at two locations.

The Crane Center on Lenzen Avenue in San Jose will be open starting at 9 a.m.

There will also be a mobile clinic parked at St. James Park on East St. John Street and Second Avenue in San Jose. That opens at 10 a.m.

More than a million people in the United States are living with HIV. That is the highest number in the country's history.

Currently, most HIV tests are done through blood samples, but one company is starting to provide saliva tests. Orasure says it is a 20 minute test for people who don't like needles.
