You might see some flames at Moffett Field this week, but you don't need to call in firefighters because they're already there.
Santa Clara County firefighters and first responders from NASA Ames Research Center are holding training sessions at the airfield. You'll probably see smoke from the field off and on through Sunday. You might even see the flames of the fire as you're driving by on Highway 101.
The teams are testing out their skills on fires caused by liquid spills, sparking wheel brakes and aircraft cabin fires. NASA Ames is warning people who live nearby that they could also hear a few more sirens this week.
The departments taking part in the training exercises are the ones most likely to be called in if there's an incident involving aircraft at Moffett Federal Airfield.
