Lupe Fiasco stopped by the Occupy Oakland camp shortly before taking the stage at the Fox Theatre on Tuesday.
Controversy is something hip hop star Lupe Fiasco has never shied away from.
That's why when word of the artist coming to perform at the Fox Theatre in Oakland Tuesday night spread, some of the people involved with Occupy Oakland took to Twitter to ask the Chicago-based rapper to lend his support.
The 29-year-old rapper, named Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, made an appearance in front of Oakland City Hall shortly before his show to lend his support to the protesters.
"Anything you guys need, please don't hesitate to let us know," he told the crowd. "Anything that goes down, you know, I'm always here to support and help in any way I possibly can."
Fiasco reportedly lived up to his word. Indybay.org reports that the rapper "donated food, supplies, tables, tents, and a generator."
He went on to perform a show at the Fox that drew rave reviews.
