Running the Country? There's an App for That

Norway's Prime Minister governs via iPad

Norway's leader is among the thousands of people stranded at an airport because of a volcanic ash cloud sweeping over Europe but he's not letting that stop him from running the country.

Jens Stotlenberg was spotted at Kennedy Airport in New York City Friday with his remote desktop: an iPad.

The Prime Minister's spokeswoman told the Associated Press that Stotlenberg was using his newly purchased iPad for novel purposes while he was stranded at the airport.

"When we were in the U.S.," Trude Maaseide said, "it was one of several tools that he used to keep in touch with the office back in Norway, to do his work."

Most airspace over northern Europe remained closed Friday evening, and Maaseide said it was unclear how and when the prime minister would return to Norway.
