5/27: Trying to Be Popular

Nada Surf

Nada Surf will play San Francisco tonight.

SO POPULAR: Nada Surf may longer be as popular as they were in 1996 when they toured the country with British rockers Superdrag but the band will live forever in infamy for their song "Popular." For one summer they were the cool kids on the block and then quickly forgotten by many. But they didn't go anywhere. They have been around for years putting out music and actually some good music. They will be at the Great American Music Hall, 859 O'Farrell St. in San Francisco at 9 p.m. to see if they can relive their popularity.

THE MOVIE TRAILER GUY: Pablo Francisco loves to impersonate people. In fact he is so good at impersonating Spanish soap operas that some have started to call him "The Movie Trailer Guy." Francisco will perform at the San Jose The Improv, 62 S. Second St. in San Jose at 9 p.m.
