Stop with the Victorians Already: NoPa Development Planned

advertisement

The depressing eyesore that is the San Francisco Department of Motor Vehicles will be part of a large new NoPa development; Build Inc.— whom you may remember from their Octavia Boulevard proposal— have been selected to redevelop the vast DMV plaza near the Panhandle. Housing and retail projects will also be included in the development. A final design is still months away, but that hasn't stopped area residents from chiming in with their opinions — the North of the Panhandle Neighborhood Association has promised to keep a close eye on the project, and it seems likely that they'll fight for a design that is "consistent with the Victorian Architecture of the neighborhood." The well meaning, if myopic group is also encouraging Build Inc. to design family-friendly housing, as they believe that demographic is on the rise in NoPa. No word yet on an ETA.
