City gets ranked as nation's best for walking

San Francisco was made for walking.

The city by the bay was named the most walkable city in America by Walk Score, an organization that studies walking in major American cities.

Walk Score ranked the most walkable cities in the country by looking at 2,508 neighborhoods in the 40 largest metropolises in the country. San Francisco came on top for its ease to navigate a neighborhood on foot, distance to stores, restaurants and schools, according to the San Francisco Business Times.

The City scored an 86 on the survey, with several of its neighborhoods scoring above a 90.San Francisco was followed by New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington, Long Beach and Los Angeles on the list.

Two of the top twenty neighborhoods in the country were in San Francisco and the only three neighborhoods to score a perfect score were in New York City.

San Diego edged at San Jose at No. 16 on the list.
